"The Ride": If you would like more of an adventure, join us for a horseback ride through the Rockies in winter. Whether forests or meadow, beautiful views of snow covered mountains, or peering at the dim outline of trees through whirling snowflakes, each experience is different. This ride is offered only when conditions are safe for guests and horses. Children must be at least 8 years old, no double riders. Ask about lead around pony rides for the little cowpoke!
Weather dependent, call for times.
(winter age restrictions are only applied at our Snow Mountain Location; there is no restriction at our Estes Park Stables)
Hot Cocoa Sleigh Ride: Try a Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride through snow covered meadows and winter forests to our Hot Cocoa Site beside the nearly century old Rowley Homestead. Disembark to a crackling campfire, hot chocolate, and marshmallows for your toasting pleasure. Once you’re done with food, drink, snow angels, horse petting, and wildlife viewing (Foxes? Moose? Snowshoe hares?), it’s a quick ride back to the stables. Blankets provided, caroling encouraged, groups are welcome.
Dinner Sleigh Ride: The perfect end to your Rocky Mountain Day. Take a 45-minute looped sleigh ride under the stars, bundled in blankets, ending at our cozy western dining hall on the stables property. Experience Colorado home-cooking with your choice of chicken, steak, or trout as an entrée. The Chicken is a roasted breast and wing; steak is a Colorado 10oz aged angus top sirloin; and the trout a fillet poached with lemon and seasonings. The meal also includes dinner salad, cowboy beans, garlic bread, baked potatoes, and fruit cobbler and ice cream for dessert.
