Moraine Park Riding Stables

Treat yourself to a 2, 4 or 8-hour ride in Rocky Mountain National Park where you'll ride the rockies like the early traders in the 1800s. The park was declared America's 10th national park in 1915 and offers an extensive trail system with over 260 miles open to riders.

Moraine Park trails provides the classic Colorado mountain personality, primitive in form. The Big Thompson River, teeming with trout, runs like a ribbon through the open meadows. Often elk gather to graze in herds in the early morning or evening hours. Tall ponderosa pine, some over 300 years old, scent the air with their pleasant aroma.

Mountain streams tumble down rocky beds splashing cool clear water on the brilliant green moss and ferns carpeting the forest floor. Lakes mirror the surrounding mountains and powder blue sky. You can't imagine a more beautiful setting.

Our experienced guides know the area well and will point out highlights, including wildlife that you might see from the trail. For instance, you may happen upon a herd of elk, wide-eyed deer, awesome bighorn sheep or the elusive coyote. Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of animals, birds, plants and the natural beauty of the mountains.

Trails from Moraine offer rides through pleasant meadows as well as up into the high country where mountain vistas are superb and air is crisp and clear. The scenery is varied, depending on your ride. Choose the 2-hour ride to Beaver Meadows or Moraine Park for a quick orientation into Colorado's Rockies.

For a more in-depth look into the back country, join the 4-hour ride to Beaver Mountain. For an even more thorough exploration in this mountain area, plan to take the 8-hour ride to Odessa Lake, Fern Lake and Spruce Canyon. Your riding experience will definitely be the highlight of your Colorado vacation.

Take a step back in time and experience the Rocky Mountains of Colorado on horseback. This will be one vacation memory that will last forever . . . but bring your camera so you can share the beauty with others.

We recommend that you stop early during your stay and make a reservation to ride with us at Moraine Park in Rocky Mountain National Park.

A National Park Concession:

In 1959 National Park Service officials recognized the need for a stable concession in the Park. To secure the highest type operation available, prospective concessionaires were interviewed on a national level, chosen carefully and remain under the supervision of the National Park officials.

For assistance in locating our stables, ask directions at the entrances to the Rocky Mountain National Park.
