Drop Camps, Pack Trips, Overnight Package
Let us pack you and your equipment into the mountains while you relax and enjoy the ride exploring this beautiful mountain setting. Spend the night in the wilderness -- just you, the clear western sky, your horse and your guide. Longer trips into the mountains, or fishing trips are also available.

Pack trips and/or drop camps are available at all Sombrero locations as well as in Rocky Mountain National Park.

For pack trips and drop camps, you supply the gear (tent, sleeping bag, food, etc.) and we provide the horses.

See our special Estes Park Overnight Package (below), including breakfast ride, steak fry ride, overnight camping and a day of riding

Drop Camp: We deliver the horses to a trailhead where you, a guide and pack horse head off for a one or multiple day trip. The guide leads you to your camp and then leaves with the horses, returning at a designated day/time with the horses to lead you out again. You can spend one night or several nights camping, fishing, hiking in the remote mountain country. Help preserve the natural beauty and leave no trace; anything you bring in must be taken out.

Let us pack you into the high country, set-up your camp and pick you up when you're ready to leave. From Estes Park location, we leave at 7:00 a.m. and return for you at 3:00 p.m. the next day (or as requested). The cost is $200 per horse rental plus $200 for your guide's horse. Drop camps for extended days are available in Rocky Mountain National Park as well.

Pack Trips: Similar to a drop camp, however, the guide and horses remain with the group and each day travel a bit farther. This is a great way to explore Colorado and experience the rugged back country. Ride from one area to another, set up camp and then spend the rest of the day relaxing, fishing, hiking or shooting photographs of the incredible scenery. You'll definitely be off-the-beaten track in your far away retreat.

From our Estes Park location, pack trips generally leave at 8:00 a.m. and return the following day at 4:00 p.m. The cost is $200 for each horse you will be riding, $200 for each pack horse needed and $200 for your guide's horse.

Reservations with a 20% non-refundable deposit are required for all drop camp and pack trips. Please let us know a week or so in advance. Last-minute reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis.

Estes Park Special Overnight Package: Arrive at 10 a.m. and spend the day riding on our 1,000-acre cattle ranch. In the evening join us for the famous Sombrero "Steak Fry" meal: an 8 oz. top sirloin steak, Dutch-oven potatoes, ranch beans, garlic bread, watermelon, cowboy coffee and lemonade.

The next morning, rise and shine for our fabulous Sombrero "Breakfast Ride:" Pancakes, sausage, eggs, orange juice and cowboy coffee

Just bring your tent, sleeping gear and a sack lunch and we'll do the rest. Cost for the complete package is $180 per rider.
