Our Allenspark Stable is located 15 miles South of Estes Park and 22 miles North of Lyons on Hwy. 7, nestled adjacent to the small town of Allenspark and between Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) and Roosevelt National Forest. Allenspark is a true mountain town with a year-round population of 523 people, give or take a few. This area is very beautiful and offers miles of trails that vary in skill level from “first time on a horse” rides to “grab on and trust your horse” rides. This stable has excellent access to the Wild Basin area of RMNP where you can ride to places like Calypso Cascades, Ouzel Lake, Thunder Lake, Finch Lake and more. Or, you can ride in the Roosevelt National Forest and explore old gold mining areas. You’ll enjoy some great views of Mt. Meeker, Mt. Washington and others as you meander through Aspen groves and past streams. We can go ahead and ride over to beaver ponds and look for moose, or ride up high in search of some bighorn sheep. Around the meadow and through the woods we go…
Our Allenspark Stable is a Custom Riding Livery. We offer trail rides from one hour up to All-Day Rides, Overnight Trips, Fishing Trips, Drop Camps, Family Reunions, Birthday Parties, Merit Badges, Weddings and much more. More information is provided below.
Kathrine Krusel manages the Allenspark Stable and is one of the the nicest, most capable people you’ll find in the riding business. She has been with Sombrero for close to a decade and will make sure you get the best possible ride. As she worked her way up through the organization she earned the nickname “Compass” for her uncanny ability to guide guests to the most remote parts of the wilderness. Compass takes great pride in keeping the horses under her charge happy and healthy, and has surrounded herself with positive, qualified and capable team members. If you’re looking for a personal treat, stop by and sit a spell with Compass before your ride and you’ll be sure to look back and consider it a great part of your Allenspark riding experience.
