ABOUT SOMBRERO
JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Located in the Yampa River Valley, Steamboat is a great base for a family vacation with a number of activities available in the area for young and old. In addition to horseback riding, you can enjoy the natural hot springs, hiking, biking, camping, museums, canoeing and river rafting.

Adjacent to the rodeo grounds in Steamboat Springs, Steamboat Stables offers horseback riding on scenic mountain trails. A perfect activity for friends, family and groups, the 1 and 2-hour rides give you an opportunity to enjoy the clean mountain air and explore this incredibly beautiful area of Colorado.

Come with your friends or family and enjoy a full day. At the stables you can spend an hour or two horseback riding on the mountain trails. Located next to the stable is the alpine sled: ride the ski lift to the top and hop on the wild ride down the mountain on the luge-style sled that follows a winding track 2,400 feet to the bottom. Rodeo grounds is right across the road from the stables; come and ride on a Friday or Saturday and then stay to attend the evening rodeo (mid June through late August). The close proximity to other activities makes Steamboat Stables an ideal start for a fun-filled day with friends or family.

Steamboat Stables offers:

Guided trail rides: 1-hour, $30; 2-hour, $45
Kids' Rides: Lead horse rides, $20 for 1/2 hour

Breakfast Rides: A morning ride and hot breakfast, $40

Fishing, Hunting and Pack Trips: Half-Day and Full-Day

Lease Horses: 1-Day to full season, starting at $100/day

Groups up to 50: Perfect outing for churches, schools, companies, clubs or organizations

Managing the Steamboat Stables are Donald and Sheila Broom. Donald, originally from Arizona, was a young child when he was adopted by Rex Walker. He grew up in Colorado and became involved with the family horse business. Previously, he was at the Estes Park location for 15 years. Now, he and Sheila (a native of Colorado) work 7 days a week during the busy summer season tending to all details in the day-to-day operation. Overseeing a staff of up to 8 wranglers, they also man the office and phones, oversee the care and feeding of up to 65 horses and fill in wherever needed. Donald and Sheila are enthusiastic about Steamboat Stables and look forward to greeting you when you visit Steamboat Stables.
