Steamboat Springs Stable
Located in the Yampa River Valley, Steamboat is a great base for a family vacation with a number of activities available in the area for the young and old alike. In addition to horseback riding, you can enjoy natural hot springs, hiking, biking, camping, museums, canoeing and river rafting.
Adjacent to the rodeo grounds in Steamboat, Steamboat Springs Stable offers horseback riding on scenic mountain trails. A perfect activity for friends, families, and groups, our 1- and 2-hour rides give you an opportunity to enjoy the clear mountain air and explore this incredibly beautiful part of Colorado.
Come with your friends or family and enjoy a full day. You’ll find camping, affordable lodging, and more near the stable. When you’re back from you’re ride, don’t miss the alpine slide located next door: ride the ski lift to the top of a mountain and hold on to your luge-style sled for an exhilarating ride down a winding track, criss-crossing the slope as you speed 2,400 feet to the bottom. We are located across the road from the rodeo grounds, so come and ride on a Friday or Saturday and then stay to attend the evening rodeo (mid June through late August). Our close proximity to other activities makes Steamboat Springs Stable an ideal starting point for a fun-filled day with friends or family.

Managing the Steamboat Springs Stable is Donald Broom. Donald, originally from Arizona, was adopted as a young child by Rex Walker. He grew up in Colorado and became involved with the family horse business. Previously, Donald worked at the Estes Park location for 15 years. He now works 7 days a week during the busy summer season, tending to all the details of Steamboat’s day-to-day operations. You’ll find Donald leading his staff of wranglers, manning the office and phone, overseeing the feeding and care of up to 65 horses, and filling in wherever needed. Donald is enthusiastic about Steamboat Springs Stable and looks forward to greeting you when you come by for a ride.
