The YMCA is located in the beautiful Fraser Valley between Winter Park and Granby, Colorado – just a 90 minute drive from Denver. Here you’ll find over 60 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and HORSEBACK RIDING! From the littlest Buckaroo in your family to the oldest Cowboy, we have something for everyone. Kids who aren’t ready for a full length trail ride are able to take a lead-around pony ride on one of our horses. Or visit the Snow Mountain Farm where sheep and goats bleet and baa for your attention. Go into their pen and give a goat a hug! Where DO your wool hiking socks come from, anyway? Trail Rides

Enjoy Beautiful Views of the Continental Divide as you ride through varying landscapes: meadows covered with wildflowers in the summer, thick spruce forests, paths beside beaver ponds, and alongside mountain streams. Winter rides are a real-life version of that snow globe on your mantle. Let our wranglers point out the local wildlife: elk, deer, moose, black bear, and coyote roam the property freely and make frequent appearances. We offer meal rides too, please view  the schedule for details.

Wagons (Summer)

If Trail Riding isn’t your cup of tea, join us for a wagon or carriage ride. This is a great option for groups with members who don’t want to or are unable to ride horseback. Take the wagon to join up with one of our meal rides, or plan your own event! How about a private sunset wagon ride to a roaring campfire with hot cocoa?

Sleighs (Winter)

Whether you join a group ride or schedule a private experience, dashing through the snow in a two-horse or one-horse open sleigh is truly a unique event. Choose from hot cocoa sleigh rides with a campfire stop for cocoa and marshmallows, or dinner sleigh rides complete with a home cooked Colorado meal served in our indoor, heated, western-style dining hall.

Nice, friendly staff. Beautiful scenery. Will definitely be back for another ride.

It was the first time for our family to go horseback riding. We really enjoyed going on a mountain path and enjoying the scenery in beautiful Colorado. Dani was a very nice guide, asking the kids questions and getting them involved with the conversation.

Our overall trail ride experience was awesome. The staff was great. The stables and coral area were well maintained. The horses and our guide made the ride fun and memorable. If we are ever in Colorado again we will definitely consider going on another ride with Sombrero. If anyone is considering a trail ride in Colorado Sombrero is the way to go.

Chloe was awesome - very knowledgeable and engaged and cared about her guests. She even volunteered to take our photos on the ride at a scenic spot. She was very good with the kids.

My family absolutely loved our ride and will definitely be back next year. The horses, and staff were great and it was the best breakfast I have had in a long time. Kuddos to Dylan for the awesome pancakes! They were SO good.

We highly recommend the folks at Sombrero Stables. We had a great time on our ride at Snow Mountain Ranch and will definitely be back!

We’ve done several rides elsewhere in Colorado and this was the best one. We are familiar with horses and were VERY impressed with the quality of horses, their pasture areas, food and water availability. It’s very obvious that the horses are extremely well cared for. The trail route was breathtaking and the prepared breakfast was out of this world! All very well set up and accommodating!

Great time.. John showed great patience dealing my 12 year old son who needed a little extra coaching on how to handle his horse. John was great, My son Finn has Down Syndrome and needs some extra attention at times. John was awesome and made the experience great! He also engaged with my 6 year old daughter and made her first Horse riding experience a fantastic time. We will be back for more, Thanks John!

Our grandchildren took a ride with you and talked about it for the next two days. They said their wrangler told them about the history, ecology, local places to visit, etc. They had a great time! I'm sorry I don't know the Wrangler's name, but the kids loved him and had a memorable time. We will highly recommend it to others.

My kids will undoubtedly tell you that the horseback ride was their most favorite part of the week and we did ALL the activities available at Snow Mountain so that is rating you guys at the TOP!! We don't ride AT ALL at home so the horses are a huge highlight. We really enjoyed Tim and his personality. Although he didn't give us quite as much history/animal knowledge as our guide ( Trevor) did last summer he did a great job and continued to give us novice riders lots of encouragement and cuing. I do NOT really like riding horses and he kept assuring me that everything was fine and I was doing great! He gave gentle cues to my son to keep his seat in the saddle as he kept sort of falling to the side and even stopped the ride one time to fix his stirrup. And as I said above he was helpful with my daughter on getting Floppy to quit eating all the grass. We'd highly recommend Tim and all the wranglers at sombrero. Thank you for another great ride. We'll see you again next year. Oh...and to finish my thought above about the clean cut wrangler who sort of corrected my daughter when she inappropriately yelled at her younger brother. I SO appreciated him doing that! She needed to be corrected as my son was following the directions that were given to him by this clean cut dark haired man in glasses ( I didn't catch his name). But anyhow, hopefully that makes sense. Thanks again Sombrero for a fun and safe ride. I always shudder at giving 'control' to this large animal but with the help of the wranglers we always end up making it home safely :)
