Must-Do Family Activities in Estes Park

Updated: Oct 22, 2021

If you are visiting Estes Park as a family, you are in luck! There is so much beauty and fun to be had throughout the entire state of Colorado, but we are a bit biased and think that Estes Park is the best place to visit for family fun.

Between being the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park and containing all sorts of interactive activities, there is never a dull moment in this part of the state.

If you are looking for some inspiration for fun family activities, look no further! We have all sorts of options so you and your loved ones can have an unforgettable visit to our great town.

What are Fun Things To Do with the Family in Estes Park, Colorado?

Visit Rocky Mountain National Park. If you are going to be in Estes Park, visiting Rocky Mountain National Park is almost inevitable because of how close it is! You will see scenery and wildlife, get to go on some great hikes and get a taste of exactly how beautiful Colorado is. Plus, for the younger kids, the park has a fantastic Junior Ranger program that is sure to get them excited about nature!

Go horseback riding. We may be a bit partial to this suggestion, but if you are paying a visit to the Wild West, horseback riding is a must! See the beauty of the Rocky Mountains the same way that the pioneers did with a family trail ride. It is fun for all ages and capabilities, and it is one of the best ways to get the true lay of the land.

Ride the Estes Park Aerial Tramway. The Aerial Tramway is a fantastic way to get fantastic views! If you are here from the end of May to early September, it is a can’t-miss attraction that the whole family is sure to love. Open daily through September 6. September 7 - September 26 Saturdays and Sundays ONLY.

Go on a Pika Sculpture hunt. Pikas, a small rodent native to the Rocky Mountains, are kind of famous around here. So famous, in fact, that they have their own sculptures all throughout town. Pikas in the Park is a scavenger hunt where kids (and adults) scout out these hidden sculptures all throughout town—but since Pikas are fairly small, it can be quite challenging and extremely rewarding!

If you are bringing your family to Estes Park, we would love to see you! Book a horseback ride with us today to experience the Rockies like never before.
